General Info
Description Route
From Conegliano to Follina along the Prosecco wine route, crossing the territories of one of the most famous and important areas of Italy for enology. The road offers incredible views over the Prosecco hills, through charming villages clinging to the vineyards, as S Pietro di Feletto, Refrontolo, Rolle, Follina, Combai. We recommend taking the route counterclockwise because the forward leg is the most challenging.
The route starts from the historic center of Conegliano, rich in monuments and artistic remains of considerable importance. In particular, we recommend the vision of the work “Madonna Enthroned with Child” by Cima da Conegliano, present inside the Cathedral of the City. Also inside the Cathedral I would also find the frescoes made by Francesco da Milano in the Sala dei Battuti.
Important is the Casa Museo Cima, home of the Cima Foundation, which promotes conferences and studies on the artist.
Continuing towards Refrontolo, we recommend a stop at “Molinetto della Croda”, a local cultural heritage dating back to the 17th century.
Continuing towards Follina we enter the territories at the foot of the Belluno Prealps, almost at the center of the chain, among rolling hills of morainic origin, in which crops of vines and orchards stand out. Moreover, these territories contain a splendid Benedictine foundation architecture built between the 1800s and the 1000s: the abbey of Santa Maria whose history is told here.
From Follina we head north-east to Cison di Valmarino to go explore one of the largest and oldest castles in Europe, reached by a panoramic funicular: Castelbrando. Click here to discover this wonderful castle.
From Cison, continue eastwards to return to the city of Conegliano passing through Fratta and Tarzo, descending towards Conegliano.
Starting point: Conegliano
