THE ASSUNTA
Opera Text
The Assunta is the most famous work of Francesco da Milano. The recall of the Titian’s assumption for the Cathedral of Verona is evident. The two figures of kneeling apostles in the foreground have been resumed, instead, by the Ascension of the Sala dei Battuti in Conegliano. Even the angel standing in front of the Madonna is twin of that of the Altarpiece of Arfanta in the Commune of Tarzo. The two musician angels, finally, derive from the work of S. Maria di Lago.
