THE CRUCIFIXION

The fresco with the Crucifixion is located on the left side of the church of S. Andrea in Bigonzo (Vittorio Veneto), in the aedicule with the tomb of the jurist Nicolò Casoni. The fresco has been preserved in a very bad state, but the presence of the two little angels on the sides of the crucifix can safely suggest its paternity. It is thought that the work of Milan was performed after 1510, perhaps on the occasion of the artist’s work on the Transfiguration inside the church. Also the S. Andrea, fresco in the lunette of the portal is to be attributed to Francesco da Milano.Â
