According to Fogolari this is “his work best composed and balanced and of great unity in effect”. There is a clear reference to the Soligo altarpiece both in the grouping of the figures and in the musician angel at the foot of the Madonna; the attitude of the latter, with an oval face and with the same detail of the ear coming out of the veil, will be repeated several times in different Madonnas that the Da Milan will paint later.
