PIAZZA GIOVANNI PAOLO is located in the main center of Ceneda and is dedicated to Albino Luciani who was the bishop of Vittorio Veneto for ten years from 1959 to 1969. The square is surrounded by prestigious monuments. The Cardinal Michele Della Torre built the fountain in 1555, in elegant Reinassance style. The big Palace of Ceneda Community, known also as “Sansovino Loggia”, was the seat of the political and jurisdictional power of Ceneda’s municipality. Under the Loggia, there are three gorgeous frescoes with episodes of justice made in the XVI century by the local painter Pomponio Amalteo. Nowadays the palace guests the renovated Museum of the First World War “Museo della Battaglia” which shows the collection donated by Luigi Marson, one of the 1899 boys who fought during the war.
