TEXT BYCICLE LANE AND MUSEUM

The Museum situated in San Giacomo di Veglia is located in the former Maffi spinning mill. This mill has not been used since the 1960s and is one of the oldest and largest industrial complexes in the area. San Giacomo is the arrival point of the 5-kilometer long cycle path of the town that goes along the river Meschio, from Serravalle to San Giacomo di Veglia.  Enjoy the landscape where nature merge with history. Since the ancient past in fact the river had been vital for the town and along its banks many artisans’ workshop where built, the remains of which can still be seen today. The water of the river has a constant temperature of approximately 11 degrees, the reason why in past times the famous blades of Serravalle were forged in the workshops of the local arms maker. Along his banks there were also mills and sawmills, paper mills and silk industries.
