STORIES OF SAN TIZIANO
Opera Text
Pomponio Amalteo, commissioned by Cardinal Marino Grimani, made five splendid tables in 1534 illustrating the divine history of San Tiziano, patron saint of the city, which formed the parapet of the organ of the Cathedral of Vittorio Veneto. Legend tells that the body of the Saint, born in Eraclea (VE) was pulled by oxen against the river Livenza at the behest of the Lord, up to the ancient church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption in Ceneda (V. Veneto).
