VIA ROMA from the main square Piazza Flaminio you can easily see Via Roma, once called Via Riva, was the only road to reach the ancient Castrum. Via Roma was a real arterial road where many merchants used to meet to sell or exchange their goods. The area is in fact a strategic point between the outback and the mountains. In the Roman times was also a defense outpost of Opitergium (nowadays Oderzo). From 1170, the Castrum was the residence of the powerful noble family Da Camino and in 1337 becomes the seat of the Venetian Podestà . Continuing on Via Roma you can see Porta San Giovanni, the door of Serravalle and the place where duties were collected.
