TEXT VIA ROMA

VIA ROMA from the main square Piazza Flaminio you can easily see Via Roma, once called Via Riva, was the only road to reach the ancient Castrum. Via Roma was a real arterial road where many merchants used to meet to sell or exchange their goods. The area is in fact a strategic point between the outback and the mountains. In the Roman times was also a defense outpost of Opitergium (nowadays Oderzo). From 1170, the Castrum was the residence of the powerful noble family Da Camino and in 1337 becomes the seat of the Venetian Podestà. Continuing on Via Roma you can see Porta San Giovanni, the door of Serravalle and the place where duties were collected.
