THE STORY

The Story

Villa Sandi, a splendid Palladian-style villa dating back to 1622, is located in a renowned winemaking area in the heart of the Province of Treviso. The villa represents the combination between art and agriculture which characterized the Venetian landscape of past centuries. The link between the magnificence of Venice and the countryside, the area known as “ Garden of Venice”.

The Moretti Polegato family, owner of the villa, have a long-standing grape growing tradition which reflects the culture and passion of the whole area for fine wines.

The Villa is nowadays the headquarters of Villa Sandi winery and Giancarlo Moretti Polegato currently manages the company and carries on the family tradition, combining innovation and research with respect and love for tradition and territory.

Three century-old underground cellars stretch for over 1,5 km under the villa and create the perfect environment for wine aging.

The villa is open to the public for guided tours all year round and it is near places of historical and artistic interest such as Possagno, Asolo, Treviso and Venice. Visitors are guided on a tour through the historical underground cellars through galleries dating back to the First World War that lead right to the living room of the Villa.

The entrance is an elegant alley sided by statues of the popular Venetian sculptor Orazio Marinali, whose works decorate also the gable and the backyard.

At the end of the visit, a glass of Prosecco in the nearby Bottega del Vino or a Food & Wine experience in the Villa Sandi estate in Valdobbiadene where another Bottega del Vino (Wine shop) and the Locanda Sandi (Inn and restaurant) are located.

GUIDED TOURS

Visiting the Villa and the winery only by appointment

The visit consists in :
· Short welcoming video (Italian/English/German) about the Company history and products;
· Visit to the winery and its suggestive underground cellars;
· Visit to the seventeenth-century Villa Sandi;
· The full tour takes about 1 hour;
· English or German speaking tour guide service;
· At the end of the tour : goodbye “brindisi” (tasting) with Prosecco wine;
· All Villa Sandi wines are available in our near-by Wine-shop “Bottega del Vino”;
· Price : 5,00 Euro per person for groups of min.10 people / Euro 50,00 for visit if smaller groups .

In the Villa Sandi estate in Valdobbiadene, among the vineyards of the area of Prosecco di Conegliano and Valdobbiadene DOCG, the Locanda Sandi welcomes guests in a warm and refined environment with traditional local dishes and Villa Sandi wines.
An elegantly simple ambience with only six rooms each of them with different names and furniture.
Set within a typical colonial house of the Veneto region at the beginning of the 20th century the Locanda Sandi was restored using materials recovered from the demolition of ancient mansions which add a refined allure to the rural atmosphere of yesteryear.

Locanda Sandi is lying in a land naturally endowed for the cultivation of the vines, so it is the ideal place where to live an authentic Wine Experience and the perfect venue for Weddings and celebrations.
